I found Piombino by driving around towns on the coast of the west coast of Italy using Google maps. I knew we wanted to spend a month on the west coast that was accessed by trains. I loved the size and what I saw on google. As luck would have it, we had a wonderful landlady and apartment not far from the old town and the walk out to the light house. We fell in love with this quaint town and the lovely people. Probably the nicest people we meet in Italy so far.
